Red sandalwood plant’s heartwood is has high medicinal values and this plant grows as a wild plant in Chittoor and kadapa districts of Andhra Pradesh and found in some plants of adjoining state of Tamilnadu.

The heartwood is a useful part of plant and is extremely hard, blood red in colour with occasional light-yellow streaks.Red Sandal Wood is also called as Rakth Chandan and is only found in the South region especially in India.
